🏆 #1 Question We Get
"How does TNCC or ENPC actually work on Zoom?"
Fair question. Here is exactly what happens inside a virtual course.
🎓
Instructor-Led All Day
Your instructors are live on Zoom with you. Real questions, real answers, real engagement.
🔬
Breakout Rooms for Scenarios
Skills and scenarios use a role-play teaching modality in small breakout stations. Your instructor presents the patient, the equipment, and the situation — you work through it just as you would in person. This approach fosters active engagement and keeps learning hands-on, even virtually.
🩺
Equipment Is Presented to You
You do not need equipment at home. During stations, equipment is screen-shared. You assess, identify, and verbally walk through your clinical decision-making.
💬
Course Discussion & Content
Case discussions, content review, and group interaction keep the day moving.
😌
Stress-Free Approach
We make it as approachable as possible. You will need to prepare — but our instructors are here to help you succeed, not to make it harder than it needs to be.
📝
Practice Exam Questions Included
Your free review course includes a test bank of practice exam questions. Use it before your course day to build confidence and walk into the written exam ready.

⚠️ Before You Register — Use Your ENA Account Email
Register using the same email address you used when you took your provider course. This is the email tied to your ENA University account and your provider card. A mismatch delays or blocks your renewal credential from being issued.
✅ Log in to enau.ena.org before registering — confirm your provider course and card appear in your transcript. If you don't see them, contact ENA before enrolling.
For experienced trauma nurses who want to earn their TNCC provider credential by challenging the examination — without completing the full 2-day course. Rigorous self-study followed by live virtual exam.
⚠ Important Note Before Registering for the Challenger
The Challenger is designed for former instructors and nurses with deep, current TNCC expertise. It is a rigorous written examination — the majority of candidates do not pass on the first attempt. Most nurses, even experienced ones, find the 1-Day Renewal or 2-Day Provider course to be a better fit. There are no refunds if you do not pass, and there is no remediation or retake included. If you have any doubt about your readiness, we strongly recommend the 1-Day Renewal instead. Contact us if you'd like guidance on the right pathway.

ENPC Frequently Asked Questions
ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) is the ENA's certification for emergency nurses who care for pediatric patients. It is ideal for any ED nurse who sees pediatric patients, and is required or preferred at pediatric-designated emergency departments globally.

ENPC and Pediatric Readiness in the Emergency Department
Pediatric readiness is a national ED quality initiative requiring structured pediatric emergency nursing education. ENPC builds the competencies your nurses need.
The Initiative
Why Pediatric Readiness Matters for Your ED
Pediatric readiness is a national quality initiative that evaluates whether emergency departments have the staffing, equipment, policies, and education required to safely care for children. ENPC is a cornerstone of the nursing education component.
Builds nurse confidence with structured pediatric assessment
Reinforces the Pediatric Nursing Process across clinical scenarios
Prepares staff for low-frequency, high-acuity pediatric emergencies
Supports standardized pediatric education across departments
Complements PALS — addresses nursing assessment, not just resuscitation
Helps ED leaders document structured pediatric training for readiness planning
ENPC vs. PALS — What's the Difference?
PALS focuses on resuscitation algorithms and team-based cardiac response. ENPC focuses on the full nursing assessment process — from triage through stabilization — across a wide range of pediatric presentations. Both are valuable; ENPC addresses the broader scope of pediatric emergency nursing practice.

ENPC is widely recognized as structured pediatric emergency nursing education and is cited in pediatric readiness frameworks as a core competency-building program. Contact your state's Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) or accrediting body to confirm how ENPC applies to your specific readiness assessment criteria.
Yes — PALS and ENPC address different skill sets. PALS is a team-based resuscitation course focused on cardiac arrest algorithms. ENPC is a nursing assessment course covering the full scope of pediatric emergency presentations. Both are valuable and many emergency departments require or recommend nurses hold both credentials.
We handle large group programs regularly. We establish a cohort schedule with multiple course dates, issue coupon codes for staff self-registration, and provide consolidated billing for the organization. Contact us to discuss your department's specific needs.
Yes. Many of our hospital partners set up ongoing annual or quarterly ENPC programs so that new hires and renewal-due nurses can certify on a continuous basis. We work with your education team to establish a sustainable program cadence.

Certification Timelines Don't Align Across Your Staff
New hires, travel nurses, and nurses due for renewal are all on different cycles. HCTA's frequent virtual course calendar gives your team year-round access without coordinator-driven seat hunting.
Challenge
Your Education Team Is Buried in Registration Logistics
When staff self-register using organization-issued coupon codes, your education coordinators are freed from manual follow-up, individual seat booking, and ongoing status tracking.
Challenge
Scattered Payments Make Reconciliation Difficult
Individual staff registrations generate separate receipts and transactions. HCTA group billing consolidates charges into a single organized invoice your finance team can actually work with.
Challenge
Open-Enrollment Dates Don't Match Your Operational Calendar
HCTA can build private course dates exclusively around your department's schedule — so your team certifies together on a timeline that works for your unit.
Challenge
High Turnover Keeps Certifications Perpetually Behind
With nursing turnover at record highs, keeping a credentialed workforce is an ongoing battle. HCTA's frequent virtual schedule means new hires can be certified quickly — without waiting months for the next available seat.
Challenge
Proving Compliance Is Difficult When Records Are Scattered
Accreditation surveys and leadership reviews demand documentation on demand. HCTA provides individual confirmation records for every registrant so your education team has what it needs — fast.

How Coupon Codes Work
Once your organization is set up with us, we issue coupon codes tied to your contract. You distribute the codes to your staff — each nurse registers directly on the HCTA website using their own code, selects their course date, and completes enrollment independently. No HR intervention, no manual seat assignments. Your organization is billed separately, and we provide completion records for every registrant.
We work with groups of all sizes — from a small handful of nurses to large department-wide cohorts. Contact us and we will design a program that fits your team size and budget.
Yes. Many of our hospital partners run quarterly or monthly cohorts so nurses can certify on a rolling basis without disrupting department staffing. We set up ongoing scheduling to support this model.
Yes. We commonly provide combined TNCC and ENPC programs for emergency departments that need both. We can sequence dates to allow nurses to complete both courses within a short window if needed.
After your organization's contract is in place, we issue unique coupon codes that reduce the course fee for your staff. Nurses register directly through our platform using their code — no manual enrollment by HR needed. Codes can be tied to specific dates or left flexible for open-enrollment access.
Absolutely. We have certified nurses in more than 50 countries, including teams in Switzerland, Germany, the UK, and beyond. Our live virtual format is purpose-built for international teams — no geographic restrictions. We do our best to work around time zones when scheduling courses and provide the full TNCC and ENPC curriculum regardless of location.

General
Provider course — this is where you earn your TNCC or ENPC certification as a nurse. You take the course, pass the written and practical exams, and receive your ENA provider card. This is what most nurses are looking for.
Instructor course — this is an entirely separate course for nurses who already hold a current provider card and want to become certified to teach TNCC or ENPC to other nurses. You do not earn your provider credential in the instructor course — you must already have it before you can register. After completing the instructor course and monitoring, you are credentialed by ENA to teach provider courses. Important: instructors never teach independently — a course director must always be present and in charge at every provider course. You teach alongside the course director, not on your own.
In short: take the provider course to get certified. Take the instructor course to become the one who certifies others.
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) focuses on systematic nursing assessment and care of adult trauma patients. ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) focuses on emergency assessment and care of pediatric patients from neonates to adolescents. Both are ENA certifications. Many emergency nurses pursue both credentials.
Yes. We deliver the official ENA TNCC and ENPC curriculum under licensed course directors. The certificates issued to our attendees are authentic ENA provider cards — identical to those issued through any ENA-authorized delivery.
Yes, an active RN license is required to enroll in TNCC or ENPC courses. Contact us if you have questions about international license requirements or reciprocity.
TNCC and ENPC provider cards are valid for 4 years from the date of completion. Renew via the Renewal course (TNCC 1-Day) or by retaking the 2-Day course (ENPC). Challengers who pass also receive a 4-year card.
All TNCC, ENPC, provider, and instructor registrants receive free access to the Review Course. It covers key clinical content, includes practice exam questions, and provides free CNE contact hours. Access is added to your account immediately after registration — no additional steps or payment required.
Yes. Nurses who take two or more courses with us — any combination of TNCC, ENPC, or Instructor — receive free access to our CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) Online Review Course, automatically added to their account. No request needed. It is our way of recognizing nurses who are investing in multiple emergency credentials with us.
Virtual Delivery
Course content, case discussions, and guided scenarios run throughout the day. For skills testing, you move into small breakout stations where cases are presented on camera. You work through the scenario, demonstrate your clinical reasoning, and are assessed in real time. No special equipment needed at home — everything is presented to you virtually. We make the process as stress-free as possible. You will need to prepare, and we give you the tools to do that, including a free practice exam test bank. Come prepared and you will be ready.
Yes. Your provider card does not state the delivery format — there is no distinction between virtual and in-person on the credential itself. Our virtual delivery follows the full official ENA curriculum. The credential you earn is the same ENA provider card regardless of delivery format. The overwhelming majority of hospitals and health systems accept our virtual format. If your employer has a concern, contact us and we can provide course compliance documentation.
A working webcam and audio are required. A solid internet connection is essential. A computer or tablet with Zoom installed. A quiet space where you can participate fully during the live session. No special simulation equipment is required.
Absolutely. We have certified nurses in more than 50 countries. Our courses run via Zoom and accommodate international participants from North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and beyond. Time zones are listed in the course calendar — choose dates that work for your location.
Registration & Scheduling
Visit our course calendar at healthcaretrainingacademy.org/calendar, select your course and date, and complete registration online. Confirmation and pre-course materials are sent immediately.
ENA recommends registering at least 30 days in advance. Many nurses register closer to the date — if that is you, choose the eBook option at checkout (issued within 1–2 business days). Print textbooks ship to US addresses and take approximately 14 days for delivery, so plan accordingly.
All course and textbook sales are final — no refunds. A reschedule may be permitted based on availability if requested within 90 days of your original course date. A transfer fee applies, and only two transfers are permitted per registration. Contact us to request a reschedule.
Yes — if you transfer to another date for the same version of the course (e.g., TNCC 9th Edition to another TNCC 9th Edition date, or ENPC 6th Edition to another ENPC 6th Edition date), your ENA University pre-course modules remain active and do not need to be re-completed. Your progress carries over automatically. If you transfer to a different course type or a new edition, your existing modules would not apply and new modules would be assigned.
Contact us with your course needs (TNCC, ENPC, or both), approximate group size, and preferred timeframe. We respond within one business day with a custom proposal. See our for more detail.
Textbooks
Yes. A textbook is required for every TNCC and ENPC registration. The official textbook must be purchased through your course registration — ENA does not distribute textbooks outside of course enrollment. Every registration includes the option to add the textbook at checkout.
If you are renewing the same course edition, you may be able to use your existing textbook — check with us first. If ENA has released a new edition, a new textbook purchase is required. Textbooks from Amazon, eBay, a colleague, or any source outside of an ENA-authorized registration are not valid — they may not be the current edition. We do not mark up textbooks.
Textbooks are approximately $80–$90 per book depending on the course and format (print or eBook), plus shipping for print copies. Pricing is set by ENA and may increase periodically. The current price will be shown during registration checkout. Textbooks are non-refundable once ordered, so please ensure you are registering for the correct course and edition before completing your purchase.
TNCC: 9th Edition (current). ENPC: 6th Edition (current). If you have a prior edition from a previous course, it cannot be used — you must purchase the current edition through your registration. Edition requirements are set by ENA and apply to all providers.
Take any two or more of our courses — TNCC, ENPC, or Instructor — and a CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) Online Review Course is automatically added to your account at no charge. Our way of rewarding nurses committed to advancing their emergency credentials.

Your course director evaluates your teaching at three points: course discussions, skill station, and testing
Upon successful completion, your course director updates ENA's system — you're an instructor!
⚠️ There are NO refunds for exam failure — no exceptions.
The instructor written exam is significantly harder than the provider course exam. Up to 70% of candidates fail on the first attempt; about 50% pass on the second. Do not underestimate it.
The exam is open-book (~50 questions, 2 hours) but the questions require internalized knowledge — you will need the latest textbook in front of you and must know where to find answers quickly. Thorough preparation is essential.
You must score 90% or greater on BOTH the written and practical exams. Two attempts are allowed. If you fail both, there are no refunds, transfers, or credits — and you must wait 90 days before re-enrolling.
Exempt from retesting if ALL of the following apply:
Scored 90%+ on both written and practical at your provider course
Provider course was within 120 days of your instructor course
Provider course was the latest version (TNCC 9th Ed or ENPC 6th Ed)
You must retest if:
Your provider card is from a prior course version (even if you audited the latest)
You did not score 90%+ on the written exam
You did not score 90%+ on the practical exam
Your provider course was more than 120 days before the instructor course
Written exam details:
~50 questions, multiple-choice, open-book, timed 2 hours — taken online via ENA University
Must be completed in one sitting; cannot be saved and returned to
Two attempts allowed; no refunds if both attempts fail
You NEED the latest textbook (TNCC 9th or ENPC 6th) in front of you — open-book questions require looking up content

FAQ
Instructor Course — Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, but you must first take, challenge, or audit the latest edition (TNCC 9th or ENPC 6th) AND retest both the written and practical exams, scoring 90% or greater on each. See the Testing section above.
Yes. ENA requires you to retest both your practical and written exams if more than 120 days have passed since your provider course. You must score 90% or greater on each.
You have two options:
Option 1 — Test at your instructor course. Practical retesting can be completed on the day of your instructor course. This is the simplest option for most candidates.
Option 2 — Test with a course director or instructor in advance. Arrange to be tested by a TNCC or ENPC course director or instructor prior to the course. They must send the completed testing form directly to our office at Contact Us. For test security, the form cannot be given to you — it must come directly from the course director or instructor.
Very challenging — significantly harder than the provider course exam. Up to 70% of candidates fail on the first attempt, and about 50% pass on the second attempt. It is open-book (~50 questions, 2 hours) but the questions require internalized knowledge and you will need the latest textbook in front of you. Thorough preparation is essential.
Two attempts on the written exam and two attempts on the practical exam. There are no refunds, transfers, or credits if you do not pass. If you fail both attempts, you must wait 90 days before re-enrolling in a new instructor course.
Log in to your ENA University account at enau.ena.org. Check your transcript — your card will state the edition. Latest editions are TNCC 9th Edition and ENPC 6th Edition. If you have a prior edition, we strongly recommend enrolling in a provider course before registering for the instructor course.
Contact your provider course director and ask them to add the Instructor Potential flag in ENA University. Alternatively, contact us expressing your desire to become an instructor — after you register, we can add an Instructor Potential override to your ENA account.
Yes — when offered on the same date, you may take both. However, verify you meet all criteria for each, and be aware the testing requirements for both courses simultaneously can be very demanding. Some candidates prefer to take them separately.
Contact us to arrange invoice payment. Note that credit card payment is the fastest method — invoice or check payments can take several weeks, and course access is not provided until full payment is received.
Missing the live session for any reason — including failure to appear, no camera, or technical issues on your end — is treated as a no-show. No refunds, transfers, or credits are available. For a separate fee, our office may be able to transfer you to a future course date if space permits.
Course Director status is not easily attained. You must be an established instructor who has taught many provider courses, can teach the entire course content, and has undergone training on ENA's Course Management System. You must also be signed off by your state trauma chair (for TNCC) or state pediatric chair (for ENPC). In most cases it takes longer than a year. Contact ENA directly and identify a Course Director mentor to begin the process — HCTA is not able to assist with Course Director certification.
